Reflections on a Virtual Artists Retreat - Creative Capital

I am so full. The past week has been a whirlwind. I joined nearly 200 other artists, curators, producers and other culture workers at the Creative Capital annual retreat, which convened virtually for the first time.

I’m inspired.  There is so much courageous artistry out here in the world.  It’s such a privilege to be in this community. I’m excited for what we are all bringing to life.

The retreat has been months in the making. It was an opportunity to share my artistic vision and plans for my NightQueen Performance Suite, a trilogy of evening-length works exploring the water crisis.  I’m still working out how I talk about this project; it’s quite ambitious and there’s QUITE A BIT OF WORK TO DO, but the room was filled with love and support, and it was so empowering.

I’m just in awe.

Huge appreciation to the entire team at Creative Capital for creating this opportunity, and a special thanks to the team at CRUX for executing the most engaging virtual event I’ve ever experienced!
