I’m in TedX Chicago 2026!
The news is out! I'm giving a TEDx talk this fall, as part of TEDxChicago 2026: We The People, on October 3 at Chicago's Harris Theater.
My talk is centered on hope, not as simply a feeling but hope is a discipline that can be learned. It’s informed by all different sides of my journey - as a writer, theater-maker, media-maker and as a leader in the non-profit space.
And the talk really grows from a question at the core of my work: How do we build the futures we actually yearn for? Beyond criticism of what’s gone wrong, beyond dismay at the choices that have gotten us here. What are the practical, practicable ways to make change. To shape change. To demonstrate change.
The worlds I create as an Afrofuturist, the narratives I bring to life as Black Speculative Performance, the collaborations I drive as an independent producer – all of this has taught me something about this question.
And the mission-driven leaders I’ve met along the way, launching new arts platforms, creating new social justice models, and building high impact coalitions - they’ve showed me how everyday people are making a difference every single day.
So this talk is coming from that perspective.
And I’m in great company, with a roster of eclectic, brilliant, visionary, passionate leaders.
